She lifted the stack of letters from the ancient chest and carried them to a nearby window for light. She glanced surreptitiously toward the door.
It took her three hours to read through the letters, each one more shocking than the one before. When she had finished the last one, she abruptly stood up and began pacing the length of the attic – the previously cherished documents scattered around her feet like yesterday’s garbage.
She felt sick. This had to be a nightmare. She released a long, torturous groan and began to cry. It explained so many things; it answered so many questions.
Just how many “wives” did her husband have?

Write up to 100 words, fact or fiction….
This is a themed writing meme hosted by Jenny Matlock. The goal is to write something that does not exceed 100 words (not including said prompt). The prompt is in italics above.
Terrific. Very well done.
What a fabulous and imaginative take on this prompt! I am spellbound and really want to read more. You painted a very clear picture with these words.
Thanks……….cj
Oh do tell how many can he have?…How many does he really love too?!
okay, i totally cannot give that show any viewing time … just on principal …
but your take on the prompt, had me wanting to read more … i enjoyed this!
I loved this!!!! I want to read the book.
Good one! Certainly an unexpected twist at the end, which I always enjoy. Nice to meet you, Karen!
OMG!
🙂
Oh my he’s a bigamist! Hope she plots a good revenge!~Ames
Bravo! Great little piece. Very nice imagery, felt like I was there with her, heart sinking as each letter was written.
More to come perhaps?!

I watched Sister Wives a couple of times but just couldn’t get into it. Sounds like this guy is more of a bigamist than a polygamist LOL.
I’ve never seen Sister Wives, but this certainly took things in an interesting direction!
Good job.
=)
This is the first one that had someone finishing the letters in the chest – I love that. Very intriguing ending I really want to hear more!
This sounds like something from Dateline! I hope she cleans his plough!!
I’ve not seen the show but this definitely makes us want to know more – Hope you continue this story – E 🙂

I’ve never seen the show, but at least they all know about each other. I think a lot of people went with the idea of love letters. But you certainly added a twist to yours! Well done, and really well written. Love the line “previously cherished documents scattered around her feet like yesterday’s garbage”. I really enjoyed this one.
Wow, those letters sure were loaded. I’ve avoided Sister Wives, but I really like this piece. It’s realistically disturbing.

This story was, of course, prompted by the show “Sister Wives.” Have ya’ll seen that show?
I watched one episode. ONE. And that’s all I’ll be watching. *grimace*
