Call for Video Meme Ideas

Recap:

Meme name suggestions?

Meme day?

Mentioned in video: Table Topics. (Pst, I’ll be giving a fancy, glass Table Topics cube to one lucky winner during 5 Minutes for Mom’s Ultimate Blog Party!)

ADDED: Another reason to participate in a video meme? Your kids. Your grandkids.

Let me explain. My parents moved to a different city shortly after I graduated from high school because my dad got a new job. And instead of writing letters, my grandmother and aunts sat around the kitchen table together and talked into a tape recorder and sent the tapes to my mom – they exchanged audio letters, if you will.

My mother cherishes those cassette tapes. She loves to take them out and listen to them from time to time. And they mean even more to her now because my grandmother is no longer with us.

So, think of participating in this video meme as your way of leaving a bit of yourself behind for your children and grandchildren. How cool would it be to WATCH mom/grandma talk about issues close to her heart?

Anyway, I felt I needed to explain the purpose behind this idea of mine. It’s not because I enjoy watching myself on video – gads, far from it. But because everything I do on this journal, everything, is geared toward leaving a bit of me behind for my future generations. My goal is not to gain readers (though that would be a nice bonus), or to become super popular, but to help make documenting our short time on this earth a little more fun. Nothing more, nothing less.

I hope you’ll consider joining me. πŸ™‚

A Quiet Moment Before THE Day

This was a quiet family moment from this past Sunday taken in our family room (aptly named, don’t you think? *grin*). The temperature was a bone-chilling seven degrees outside, the wind was whistling and rattling our windows, and we were cozy inside with a roaring fire, cheery Christmas music and comfortable family silence.

I love these moments, they are true family moments to me – just time spent together, doing separate things. πŸ˜€

The boys are now officially on winter break. I spent the day mopping and vacuuming floors, running last minute errands (which included picking up our honey-baked ham and turkey because HELLO?! I don’t cook and definitely not well) and having lunch with my husband. The husband has to work until noon tomorrow and then we can completely relax once again and enjoy each other’s company.

I’m taking a short blog break – I’ll be back December 26th, or December 27th (it depends on how tired I am Friday).

In the meantime, please feel free to catch up on some posts (I know I post entries pretty fast – sorry about that. It’s what I DO).

Out Shopping

Taped yesterday.

Update: Right after taping this video, I was taking one last sip of my Gingersnap Latte and got a mouthful of chunks. (!!) I’m assuming they were ginger chunks? I hope it was ginger?! Have you ever encountered chunks in your Starbuck’s coffee?

Please say yes. πŸ˜€

Update 2: I’m done! Well, with my guys, anyway. I didn’t find what I was looking for in the store (that was a big, fat waste of time) so I went back online and found it. I finished clicking that “confirm purchase” button last night and now I have five packages, full of goodies, on their way to me. I don’t know why I even step foot in a store anymore – everything we want and/or need is online.

Awww, the sweet smell of completion.
