This week’s theme: Breakfast
Why yes, this is a BBQ grill, in our house. And the husband is cooking breakfast on it. And his nose is red because it’s about 30 degrees in our house. And if you look closely, you’ll see the blanket we have over the doorway (we sectioned off the house to try and keep it warmer) and the refrigerator door? Is open because all of our food spoiled and we were trying to cook it in an effort to at least eat some of it. This was taken during an ice storm that buried us in January 2007 and left us without electricity for 11 days. In fact, I’ll post the entries from that time period shortly, if you’re interested. That was an experience, let me tell you. |

Looks like he’s cooking up a “storm”! Not having power is definitely an adventure! Have a happy Saturday.
Yikes! Don’t want to be a wet blanket here, but you are very, very lucky you’re still around to tell that story. BBQ grills are not made to use indoors and can be fatal. They produce a LOT of carbon monoxide. Evidently, you had just enough ventilation that it wasn’t a problem. This is one of those pictures that should have a “Don’t try this at home” disclaimer under it.
I’ll climb off my soapbox now and say that it’s still a great picture and a clever contribution to the theme. Pictures of men in the kitchen seem to be a rarity. :0)
That looks like an interesting adventure. Been there too. It was in 1991 and the power was out for almost a week. Borrowed a kerosene heater from my brother, shut off all the house with blankets in the door ways except for the living room, cooked on top of the heater and even managed to keep the plants and the goldfish alive. But it is not an experience I ever care to repeat.
Here’s Breakfast!
Your hubby seems to be really absorbed with his cooking. I’ll go check your ice storm pics.
A bbq grill in your house? How cool is that! Your hubby looks like he can cook up a mean breakfast! I looked at your ice photo. That’s insane. I used to live in Michigan but now live in Texas. We don’t get much winter nasty weather but when we do everything gets shut down. I certainly don’t miss it!
