Would You Believe This is an Actual Product?

Well. It is.

It just seems so … silly, doesn’t it? Or maybe it’s silly in how it’s depicted in this ad.

I used to be VEHEMENTLY opposed to anyone releasing gas around me. It grossed me out. Actually, it still grosses me out. But after having a colon restructure and having three feet of my large intestine cut out so that I could comfortably go to the restroom AND pass gas, I have to say – WHATEVER IT TAKES, MAN.

Because though it’s gross and smelly to be around someone who passes gas (and some people simply can’t control it), it’s a necessary bodily function that if NOT done can actually cause harm to someone.

I know. I’m living proof of that. (Though I have no idea if the twist in my intestine was caused by my holding back my gas, it probably didn’t help matters).

So. This product may seem silly, even stupid, to some. I totally get that. But get this: SOME people might actually find relief using products like these because sometimes living a healthy life is not always easy, or nice smelling.

Here’s Your Sign

No. It’s not easy.

Yes. It sucks to make sacrifices.

But don’t let ANYONE tell you it’s not possible.

Because it is.

It’s called responsibility, discipline and self-control.

Something too many people in our country don’t understand or take seriously.

Are you paying attention, Wall Street Occupier protesters?? Because just in case you didn’t catch my drift, I’m referring to YOU.

Boo

I do not like being scared.

pic0054

I don’t even like surprises.

pic0111

Even nice surprises.

pic0174

I think the reason I don’t like being scared is the loss of control of a given situation.

pic0203

Which pretty much proves I’m a control freak who doesn’t like to have uncontrolled fun.

pic0062

Which is the biggest reason I’ve never gone to a haunted house.

pic0045

There are just too many scary surprises around every corner.

What about you? Do YOU like being scared?

What Kind of Impression Do You Give People?

You Make a Good First Impression

You probably are making a much better impression than you realize.

Social situations can be a bit awkward for you at times, and you tend to over think what you say and do.

If you make a social faux pas, you remember it a lot longer than anyone else does.

Just relax and do your best. There are little things you can do to improve your social image.

Express more of an interest in the people around you, and be a good listener.

The secret of fascinating people is that they find everyone else fascinating!

I HOPE I make a much better impression than I think I do. Because I THINK I’m a dork in public.

Actually. When I make a social faux pas (notice I said “when”), I usually try to pass it off as a joke. It sort of goes back to that dork thing.

And I think I’m a great listener. Though I do have a bad habit of cutting people off when they talk. Especially when I see they’re struggling to try and find the right word or phrase – I have a tendency to just jump in and complete their thought for them.

Yes. It’s as annoying as it sounds.

Welp. Guess where I am, right this very moment. I’m attending the first day of my two-day orientation at my new job.

I wonder how it’s going ………… ??

UPDATE: And the first day of orientation is OVER. I’m telling you guys, I’m going to LOVE working for this place! I’d go into more details, but I’m completely wiped out. I’ll write more in a few days – I have so much to do AND a new school website to get online! Busy, busy!

Cutest Headband Ever

Isn’t this gorgeous?

My aunt made this. She also makes quilts, padded books and pillows. Check out her Etsy shop, if you get the chance. You won’t be sorry.

I hope you’re supporting handmade/homemade artists and crafters because more often than not, the products they make are WAY cuter than what you can buy in the store and you’re helping to support some pretty awesome people.

Like my aunt. πŸ™‚

The New Footloose Movie

I was surprised to see the number of “dislikes” -they far outweighed the “likes” on the YouTube page.

Is it because “Footloose” is a classic and shouldn’t be messed with? Does it need more Bacon? (Kevin Bacon, that is). I thought the trailer looked good. And I’m a pretty big fan of the original movie.

I like how they modernized it. The dancing looks pretty awesome.

I dig dancing movies. (Probably because I wanted to be a dancer when I grew up. Then I grew up and was like, “UGH! This stuff is HARD. Where’s my chocolate.”)

I also like the message behind the movie – that if you repress our young people (or any people, quite frankly), then you’re going to have a revolt. People can only take so much. They need some sort of release valve for all of that pent up energy and frustration.

It’s also about how if you make a big deal out of something then guess what, it becomes an even BIGGER deal. Personally, I would much rather downplay something (sex, drugs, alcohol) to my kids than never discuss it with them and blow it up into this big, mysterious YOU MUST NOT DO AT ANY COST sort of thing.

You know?

So tell me, Internet – are you looking forward to the new “Footloose” movie? Or do you think they should have just left it alone. If you’re a fan of the movie, what did you like about it? What did you dislike about it?
