Thanks Dad, and every other Veteran out there. We love you!!

Family is Everything
I stumbled onto Obama’s Flickr stream via BoingBoing today and thought I would share two of my favorite photos from that set:
Mrs. Obama is gorgeous, isn’t she? I’ve always liked her – she’s very articulate, intelligent and she just seems “together,” you know?
But what really caught my attention in this photo was Obama’s shoes. Look at the soles – that is a man who’s done a lot of walking in those shoes. And it’s cool that he’s not being too pretentious with his wardrobe.
But this photo is my favorite – it made me smile:
It just goes to show, that kids will be kids no matter where they are stationed in life. Even though her dad would go on to become the next president of the United States, she was still bored waiting around. 🙂
And doesn’t she look like her mother?
I may not agree with Obama’s political agenda (at all, in fact), but there is no doubt he is family-oriented and for that, I admire him.
ADDED: I meant to pass this link along in the original post, but then my rancid body odor distracted me and I HAD to take a shower and I forgot. But now, I’m feeling, and smelling, better so my brain is working once again and I remembered …
Change.gov is a website launched by the Obama team’s Presidential Transition Project which documents the transition into power and solicits ideas from the public.
I’d love to be a peon on the other end of those feedback forms and read the suggestions coming in – I can only IMAGINE the craziness.
One thing that really struck me during this campaign was Obama’s technical prowess – or maybe not Obama’s, but certainly his campaign people’s technical savvy. It absolutely amazed me not only HOW and how FAST he got the word out there (leasing his own TV station is just one example), but that he utilized all of the technological avenues available in our geeky world TO get the word out.
That was a very smart move from Obama’s people. Very smart. And a lesson for all of us, really. If you want to get the American people’s attention, hit them in their cyber guts.
Attention Single Ladies in the House
Let’s lighten things up around here, shall we? How about a funky video?
I’m not that crazy about Beyonce, but I have to say, that woman can shake it!
And you have to admit, this is pretty catchy.
And I totally won’t look if you want to chair dance. *grin*

Vote for the Right Change
Please exercise your free will. Please vote for less taxes, less spending, less government, more personal responsibility.
Remember the 700 billion dollar bailout? Whose to blame? The government! Do we REALLY want MORE government mucking up our lives?! Making our decisions for us? Deciding how to best spend OUR money?? Do we not have brains? Can we not make up our own minds without the government holding our hand? Have we been reduced to this?
We’ve worked hard, shed tears and blood for our great country. Do we really WANT a socialist society? You really want to hand your hard-earned cash over to a sector of society who chooses not to work as hard as you? How will handing them free money/benefits/food/homes/clothes motivate them to want to do better? To make something more of their lives? You think they will want to get out, get a job and make their situations better if we keep handing them things for free? Seriously? Sure, it’s nice to help people, it’s also nice to help people get back on their feet, not support them!
Please vote. Please vote for change. Please vote for the right change.
Thank you.
I’m Write From Karen, and I approve this message. 🙂
Joke: The First Time
By the time you read this, I will have already written my quota for the day at the university library and will be having lunch with my husband at McSalty’s. I then plan on coming home, folding laundry and catching up on emails. Hopefully, I’ll have some pictures to post later, but don’t hold me to that at this point.
My apologizes for not posting anything new but WOW, life is busy right now between juggling family, work and NaNoWriMo. I’m ahead of the game at this point though (check out my progress button in my sidebar), so it’s all good.
Talk to you later … I hope!
In the meantime, it’s Monday and we could all use a laugh, right??

A girl asks her boyfriend to come over Friday night to meet and have dinner with her parents.
Since this is such a big event, the girl announces to her boyfriend that after dinner, she would like to go out and make love for the first time. The boy is ecstatic, but he has never had sex before, so he takes a trip to the pharmacist to get some condoms. He tells the pharmacist it’s his first time and the pharmacist helps the boy for about an hour. He tells the boy everything there is to know about condoms and sex. At the register, the pharmacist asks the boy how many condoms he’d like to buy, a 3-pack, 10-pack, or family pack.
The boy insists on the family pack because he thinks he will be rather busy, it being his first time and all.
That night, the boy shows up at the girl’s parents house and meets his girlfriend at the door. “Oh, I’m so excited for you to meet my parents, come on in!” The boy goes inside and is taken to the dinner table where the girl’s parents are seated. The boy quickly offers to say grace and bows his head. A minute passes, and the boy is still deep in prayer with his head down. Ten minutes pass, and still no movement from the boy.
Finally, after 20 minutes with his head down, the girlfriend leans over and whispers to the boyfriend, “I had no idea you were this religious.” The boy turns, and whispers back, “I had no idea your father was a pharmacist.”

HAHAHA! Okay, so I thought that was funny. Of course, that won’t be so funny when my boys start dating. 🙂
Mario Theme Played with RC Car and Bottles
Vodpod videos no longer available.
Wasn’t that fun? I love it when people get creative like this.
By the way, my boys, who are Mario fanatics, LOVE this video.
Strange Things are Happening at the Tower Theater
I don’t believe in ghosts.
And I don’t believe in spirits, in general, though I do believe there are devil spirits that surround us and if you’re not careful, could possess you if you allow them in. (By subjecting yourself to tarot cards, visiting psychics, participating in evil cults/activities).
But I would by lying if I didn’t admit that evil spirits and unexplained phenomenon IS fascinating to learn about – as long as you keep your head and remain rational about the ordeal.
I heard the audio version of this on the radio this morning. The kids were with me and I could almost hear them panting – the fear was nearly palpable. And I admit, my heart started pounding at the sheer creepiness.
I actually felt light-headed after I watched the video on YouTube.
Some believe the Tower Theater is haunted. The Tower Theater used to be a movie house back in the 1950’s, it now houses five local radio stations. Rumor has it, that late at night, you can strongly smell popcorn, and hear various “patrons” saying, “Please be quiet.” “Please remove your hat.” “Sit down in front.” And various other movie-related things people might say in a movie theater.
It’s speculation that these are the ghosts of past patrons.
Now that the Theater is home to so many radio stations, some believe that the magnetic energy from all of the radio waves are coaxing these ghosts out of hiding. I’ve heard enough about magnetic energy to know that some people REALLY believe that electrical waves, and so forth (I’m not interested enough to really research the correct terms), affect your physical life, even your mental well-being. But are they really strong enough to manifest ghosts?
The strange things you’re about to see in this video are well … creepy. But the skeptic in me wonders just how “supernatural” it truly is. The logical part of my brain thinks, “Whatever. Someone is totally manipulating that chair and making that door move.”
Perhaps. But I will admit that after watching this video, I’m now completely creeped out and will likely be sleeping with a nightlight on for the next few nights.
Are you disappointed to learn I’m really a scaredy-cat at heart? 😀
I’m curious. Have you ever encountered strange phenomena like this in your life? Do tell!
