Photo Story Friday: Feeling Faint

I’m nearly unconscious in this picture.

This is me, on my honeymoon and on the romantic and beautiful island of Cozumel Mexico. We had stopped to take a break and I had to sit down because I was feeling faint and quite nauseous.

Notice what I’m wearing. A heavy-cotton button-up blouse, snug jean shorts and shoes and socks.

In 90 degree weather.

On a tropical island.

Where the humidity was so thick it was hard to catch your breath.

Hence the reason I nearly passed out. I had a serious case of heat stroke.

I overdressed for our tropical trip. I had no idea, no freaking idea, that it would be that hot.

But I was naive and inexperienced. I had never been out of Missouri, let alone the country, so I honestly had no clue what to pack – obviously.

I was miserable the entire time we were there. Simply because I was too stupid to pack the right clothes.

Heck, I’d have been better off running around naked.

Kevin would have liked that.

I might have caused blindness in the natives, though.

When we went back to visit Cozumel this past June, I was prepared. I wore light-weight stretchy shorts (notice the jean shorts I’m wearing in this picture AREN’T the stretchy kind? Stupid girl), spaghetti-strap shirts and flip flops.

I didn’t look as “put together”, but I didn’t care. I could breathe. And I kept cool.

I’m older now, being comfortable trumps being cute. πŸ™‚

Photo Story Friday: The Infamous Pole

Oh look! Another wonderful excuse to scan old pictures and bore you to tears!! Yay!

(Welllll … hello waist. I haven’t seen you in quite some time.)

Beach - 1990

This was taken on a beach in Cozumel, Mexico back in 1990. Kevin and I were on our honeymoon and we rented a moped (I believe they now call them scooters for all you young whipper-snappers out there) and drove to the less inhabited part of the island where we stopped to have lunch.

It was traditional for all new visitors to carve (or write) their initials into this pole I’m leaning against.

If you look really closely, you can see what Kevin wrote in the pole in red ink. If you can’t see it, you can click here to see a larger version.

If you don’t know, me, Kevin and the boys all went back to Cozumel Mexico on our cruise this past June. And one of the missions we set out for ourselves was to find this pole and show the boys what we wrote.

But alas. The hut was no longer there. That side of the island gets pummeled by hurricanes and it tore that hut down years ago, so we didn’t get to see the pole, but it was so much fun to visit the area where our life began.

Ahh … to BE 25 again.

Photo Story Friday: Fancy a Shoot?

Oh look! Another wonderful excuse to scan old pictures and bore you to tears!! Yay!

Me. Thinking I’m all that because I have a camera in my hand. This was taken in 1989 by Lake Springfield. Kevin and I were really big into photography back then and we had gone on a “shoot.”

I’m holding an old Olympus 35 MM camera (which I never did learn how to use properly because I’m an idiot. But ya’ll knew that so ….)

Photo Story Friday: Guess the Emotion

Oh look! Another wonderful excuse to scan old pictures and bore you to tears!! Yay!

Here is something I bet you guys didn’t know about me:

Scan10438

I’m like, an awesome actress.

Take the above picture, for example. I bet you will never guess, in a million years, what emotion I’m feigning.

Give up?

Why, shock, of course. (My acting skills, they’re good, right? [fail]).

This was taken back in … ’88, ’89, at Christmas time. And apparently, judging by my idiotic expression, I already knew what my gift was, but for the life of me, I can’t figure out what I’m holding. I’m thinking ……. it’s a book?

But I do remember Kevin asking me to act like I was surprised and well ….

…. there you have it. My “surprised” look.

Photo Story Friday: Catching Some ZzZ’s

Oh look! Another wonderful excuse to scan old pictures and bore you to tears!! Yay!

I know.

I have a big butt.

But let’s move past the butt (if you can) and look at the fact that my husband? Used to take pictures of me while I was sleeping and it used to irritate me.

In fact, he still likes to take pictures of me sleeping and it still irritates me.

I have no idea why I’m so interesting to him while I’m sleeping.

Maybe that’s when he likes me the best – when I’m unconscious and quiet. πŸ˜€

This had to have been taken before the boys came along.

Because I’m pretty sure I didn’t sleep long enough for my picture to be taken after they came along.

I feel a nap coming on.

‘Scuse me. ZzzZzzZz

Photo Story Friday: Trying to Be Sexy (Keyword: Trying)

Oh look! Another wonderful excuse to scan old pictures and bore you to tears!! Yay!

And here is further proof that I desperately need some fashion advice.

I remember this skirt. I loved it – when I could wear it. But if I ate even ONE donut, or ONE piece of chocolate *PLOOP*, I would blow up like a balloon and be too bloated to wear it.

So if I planned on wearing this skirt? I didn’t eat, for like a week.

I loved this shirt. I have no idea why other than the fact that I thought it was cool that people could see my midriff when I lifted my arms (this was CLEARLY before children) and it gave me a sexy thrill “exposing” myself like that.

Now I go completely berserk at the idea of someone seeing me in a bathing suit, or shorts, or capris, or camis or …

*ahem*

And my hair. Apparently, I was going for the matronly look. I mean, I have it pulled back, but the way I’m smiling? Indicates I think it looks good. *gag*

And is it just me or does my right arm look like it’s been put on backwards?
