A Little Thing Called FACTS

From American Thinker:

President Obama says that statistics like the ones I listed show how deep the Great Recession was and that he didn’t create it.The blame, he says, belongs to President George W. Bush.

While it’s true that President Bush contributed to the problems we face today, these are undeniable facts: President Bush has been out of office for 3 years; the downward spiral in every major category has accelerated under President Obama; and on President Obama’s watch, the United States is rapidly becoming an insolvent nation. These are good reasons not to support Obama in 2012.

Now seriously. HOW can you support a man who has done nothing for this country in the last three years? HOW can you support a man who has made our country worse?!?

Politics aside – you can’t ignore the facts. President Obama doesn’t know what he’s doing. President Obama doesn’t have our best interests in mind. President Obama doesn’t even LIKE our country – why would he work to make it better?

So, we have had almost three full years to watch Barack Obama in action. One can not help but come away with the idea that Barack Obama has little use for the American people. He seems contemptuous of us all and it seems that he believes that we are deserving of the hardships we are experiencing because of our many failings. It would perhaps be best if Barack Obama and the American people were to come to a parting of the ways come November 2012. It would be unfair to expect that Barack Obama continue to suffer the indignity of having to be President of such a bunch of unambitious, unimaginative, unwilling, soft and lazy individuals that he obviously believes us to be.

It’s time for some POSITIVE Hope and Change, folks.

Let’s try this again …

Christ is The Reason for the Christ-mas Season!

In case you haven’t noticed, it’s become “cool” to diss Christians nowadays. Why is that? Are non-Christians threatened by our God? Are non-Christians jealous that we have hope in this dismal world? Is it because they don’t understand what Christianity is? Is it because some Christians have given the faith a bad name over the years?

All of the above?

I could go into a long, detailed post about how people have become scared to admit they are Christians in this day and age, but I won’t. And here’s why:

Because Lindsay, from Suburban Turmoil, says it SO much better than I do.

And please, read the comments – they’re relevant, interesting and many “opposing” readers have valid points.

It all boils down to this: RESPECT. For each other, and for differing points of view.

And it’s no longer “cool” to make fun of Christians. Because I believe Christians have finally had enough. And they’re starting to stand up and defend themselves. And more and more people are waking up to realize that these non-Christian people who take the time and exert their energy to say, act and/or blog disparaging comments about Christianity are being exposed for the bitter, sad, lost, angry people that they are.

Is this an excuse to shun them?

Hardly.

It’s a silent cry for guidance, kindness and help that we, as Christians, have been called upon to offer them. If they reject our help, then that is their decision, but it is our responsibility as Christians to be the bigger person in this evil, corrupt world and offer a helping hand to those that are willing to accept it.

You can’t please everyone. IT. IS. IMPOSSIBLE. All you, me, and other Christians can do, is stand firm in our beliefs and be available if they need us.

I am a Christian. I am not afraid to admit that fact. I stand up for what I believe. And if people believe differently than I do, then that is their choice. I will not make fun of them or belittle what they believe. I have the freedom to disagree, and I’m not afraid to voice that disagreement in a rational, kind, and respectful way. Disagreeing does not mean I’m dismissing their views/opinions. It does not mean I’m making fun of their views/opinions, it means I disagree.

It’s as simple as that.

Please realize that if you’re one of those people who make a habit of snarling at Christians – we, the WORLD, see right through you.

Think about it.

And God loves you. Whether you accept that fact or not.

An Outstanding Display of American Creativity and Pride

How freaking cool is this marching band?!?

Did you watch the formations? My favorite is the moving tank … though I don’t know, that sinking submarine was pretty impressive, too.

Don’t EVER be ashamed to be proud of our military men/women. And don’t EVER let anyone take away the rights our military have fought SO HARD to win for us.

Stop being a spineless jelly fish and stand up to these socialist movements.

NEVER BE ASHAMED TO DEFEND OUR COUNTRY OR OUR MILITARY PERSONNEL.

We are America and we are proud.

Get over it.

One of the Lessons of 9-11 is That Evil is Real and So is Courage

George W. Bush Flight 93 Memorial Speech, September 10, 2011

And may I just point out … do you see how Bush ignores the teleprompters entirely and sticks to reading his speech old school style? Do you see how he looks up from his speech and looks out at the crowd with kindness and compassion? Do you hear how he speaks TO the audience and not AT the audience?

This is what makes a great public speaker.

Obama does none of these things. When he speaks, his nose is up in the air, he’s focused on the teleprompters and he rarely looks at the people he’s addressing. The rare times he looks at the audience, his demeanor is defiant and arrogant.

It’s insulting.

I just wanted to bring this to your attention. Let’s make sure our next president is FOR the people and not AGAINST the people.

Deal?

And one last thing, NEVER FORGET September 11, 2001.

NEVER FORGET that evil is real.

Just Because You Disagree Doesn’t Mean You’re a Bigot

I have never quite understood people who claim they are “outraged” over someone else’s beliefs or opinions.

Everyone is entitled to his/her own OPINION. Everyone has a core set of beliefs (and if you claim NOT to have beliefs well there you go, your beliefs are, you don’t have beliefs). Being outraged because someone doesn’t agree, or believe, the same as you is unrealistic, selfish and quite frankly, egotistical. In essence, people who are “outraged” over differing opinions are saying, “You don’t have a right to your opinion … unless you agree with me and then, okay.”

Hogwash.

For example…

The whole Chaz Bono appearing on “Dancing with the Stars” show drama (*rolls eyes as she types out the word drama*).

I saw a tweet from a blogger expressing her outrage over this article.

She was angry that the author of this opinion piece didn’t support Chaz’s decision to make the physical transition from a woman to a man. She called people who didn’t agree with Chaz’s decision bigoted and evil. She also didn’t agree with the author’s appeal to his audience to boycott the “Dancing with the Stars,” show this season.

Here are my thoughts on this issue:

First of all, let’s not forget that this is an opinion piece. The author of this piece has a right to his opinion. And just because the author is asking his readers to boycott the show doesn’t mean they will, or even should. I have my own thoughts about things and just because someone is telling me to boycott something doesn’t mean I will – I don’t do something just because someone tells me to. I will form my own opinion and if I choose not to watch the show, then I’m choosing not to watch the show.

It’s not any different than being “outraged” over an article published on Huffington Post that is asking people to watch this season’s “Dancing with the Stars’ to help support Chaz. So what? That writer has a right to his/her opinion, just like the writer in the above piece has a right to his opinion. Readers can agree, or disagree … I’m not exactly sure where “outrage” fits in. We can all choose to either watch the show or not watch the show. We can choose to support Chaz, or not support Chaz. It doesn’t make us bigoted; it doesn’t make us anything. We disagree. It’s OKAY to disagree with a person’s decision to do, or not to do, something.

However, it’s NOT okay to treat the person any differently just because we disagree with them.

If I saw Chaz on the street, I wouldn’t shun him or treat him badly, I don’t have the right to do that to any human being. Just because I don’t agree with his transgender decision doesn’t mean squat, really. It’s none of my business what he does with his body. As long as I treat him the same as everyone else, then there isn’t an issue.

I have a niece who chose to have a giant tree tattooed on her arm. I personally don’t care for it, but so what. It’s her arm. She can do what she wants with it. I don’t treat her differently, or love her any less – it simply is what it is. Am I disappointed with her decision? Of course, but again, I’ll get over it – it’s HER body.

And speaking of choice – Chaz has the right to choose what he does with his own body. He also has a right to go on “Dancing with the Stars” and celebrate his change. However, this does not mean that I have to celebrate with him. Just because he is feeling happy with his decision doesn’t mean I HAVE to feel happy, too. I too have a right to my own opinion and personally? I think changing one’s sex is sick and creepy. But that’s my OPINION. I can still watch “Dancing with the Stars” and NOT agree with Chaz’s decision if I want to; it doesn’t mean I’m a bigot, it means it’s his life, it’s my opinion and life really isn’t any more complicated than that.

We all judge. Sometimes it’s necessary to judge to keep ourselves in check. It’s what we do with that judgement where we start running into problems. Calling for a boycott is silly – so the writer doesn’t agree with Chaz’s personal decision on what to do with his body. GET OVER IT. So there are people out there that DO agree with Chaz’s decision and support him – GREAT.

Just because someone agrees with someone doesn’t mean he/she is a better person, it just means he/she agrees. If a person doesn’t agree with a decision someone makes, it just means he/she doesn’t agree with the decision.

WHY must we make something out of nothing?

The fact that this blogger is making a stink about the fact that people disagree with Chaz’s decision and is trying to rally the troops into feeling “outraged” because they think differently than she does, is not being helpful at all. In fact, it could be argued that she’s being bigoted against the people who disagree with Chaz’s decision.

We could all get along so much better if we just checked our self-important attitudes at the door, don’t you think?

Actually, I don’t give a rat’s ass what Chaz does with his body – honestly, whatever. But I DO feel sorry for Cher. Because speaking as a mother, whether she agrees, or disagrees with her son’s decision or not, it HAD to have been hard for her to cope with all of the conflicting emotions she must have gone through during this transition. I can only imagine the torment she must have suffered seeing her child in so much pain and wanting to help him through it. A mother’s love transcends all personal decisions and opinions.

At any rate, the moral of this story is this: we all have our opinions. We all judge. It’s who we are, it will never change. However, we CAN change how we react to these judgements and disagreements and ACCEPT the fact that not everyone will agree with everyone else and that’s OKAY. Just because someone doesn’t agree with you doesn’t make him/her a bigot, racist or anything else derogatory – it means we’ll all different and we all have to work on accepting those differences.

Diversity is a process. It’s also a two-way street. Think about it.

Compromise That’s Not a Solution is a Waste of Time

I challenge you to watch this video and LISTEN to what the man says. Rubio perfectly sums up what we’re all thinking.

If you don’t wish to spend 15 minutes watching this video, then read the transcript.

And if you don’t want to do either, then I’m assuming you like being told what to think instead of taking the initiative to think on your own.

That’s right – meow. I’m tired of people not getting involved in our messed-up politics.

I really LOVE how he keeps on task. I love how he doesn’t rise to Senator Kerry’s bait and allow himself to be put on the defensive. For you see, that is the Democrats’ biggest strategy – to put the Republicans on defense. For if they’re put on defense, then they spend most of their time defending their position instead of debating the REAL issues. Democrats are masters of delay tactics because if they can delay talking about the tough issues, then they don’t have to vote on the tough issues and tick off their voter base.

Because that voter base keeps them in office and we must not bite the hand that feeds us, now must we. That might mess up their political CAREER. Forget doing what’s best for the country, let’s focus on getting re-elected and furthering one’s CAREER.

It’s not a CAREER, it’s a SERVICE. It’s an honor to SERVE the American people and to be their spokesperson. But too many career politicians either have forgotten they’re there on behalf of the people, or they simply don’t care – it’s all about kissing the right asses so they can stay in Washington.

The whole thing makes me sick.

We need more people like Rubio in Congress who WILL NOT allow themselves to be distracted from the real issues. Then they can get back to the crux of the matter and hold the feet of these Democrats to the fire who refuse to deal with the real issues at hand.

I mean seriously, just HOW deeply can one party bury their heads in the sand?? It’s time to face reality and make the tough decisions. Someone, and I’m addressing both parties here because the Republicans have been spineless wimps in this whole debt ceiling issue, needs to grow a pair of balls and DEAL with these problems.

Did you catch the part where the Senate hasn’t produced a budget, not even a proposed budget, since Obama has taken office?!? And did you catch the last part where he said, “I would say it’s impossible to negotiate with someone who doesn’t offer a plan. How do you negotiate with someone who will not offer a plan and will not put it on the table?”

I mean, COME ON, Duh people.

And I’ve heard lot of talk today about delaying tactics and delaying votes. I would argue to you that this issue has been delayed at least for the last two and a half years.

In the two years before I even came here, this chamber neither proposed nor passed a budget. It is a startling figure that for the last two years this government has operated without a budget. So think about that. Two years have gone by without a budget. The first two years that the President was the president, no budgets.

Some people would say, well, that’s because of partisanship in Washington. Well, that’s not true. In the two years before I got here, both the House and Senate were controlled by members of the Democratic Party, which are the President’s party. In fact, in this chamber for at least one of those two years, 60 votes, 60 out of the 100 members here caucused with the Democrats. And as you recall, on Christmas Eve of the year 2009, they were able to pass a health care bill that was very controversial because they had the 60 votes in the President’s party.

Over two years, no budget. In fact you know how long it has been since this chamber proposed a budget? Forget passed a budget, proposed a budget? 822 days. That’s a long time. A lot of things have happened in the last 822 days, but proposing a budget is not one of them out of this chamber.

So then I got here – and we got here in January, seven months have passed, still no budget. Again, not budget passed, proposed, offered. Here’s our budget. Still no budget. 822 Days and every single day that I’ve been here.

Now, in the last seven days on this debt debate, we have finally seen a proposal from the esteemed senator from Nevada, the majority leader. You would think, has he brought it to the floor to vote? Not until last night. So, again, offered a proposal over the weekend and still for six days we sat around and what did we do around here? Nothing. It was never brought to a vote.

You would think these issues would have been worked on in January, February, March — nothing. This chamber has done nothing. You talk about delay tactics? They’ve been delaying for two and a half years.

And the Democrats have the AUDACITY to accuse the Republicans of delay tactics?!? The left side is truly delusional.

Marco Rubio seriously needs to run for president and if, nay, WHEN he does, he has my vote.

Period.

Mock the Spending Series

The team at BulletPeople.com launched a video marathon where their goal was to produce 100 satiric clips in 24 hours, about “Mocking the Spending” underway in Washington. (Looks like they didn’t reach their goal, but still plenty to watch).

Here are a few of my favorites. You can watch all of the videos on their YouTube channel.

The following videos answers these questions:

Government regulations are like…

The government spending money is like..

Congress spending money is like...

I can’t tell you how refreshing it is to see young people actually get involved with politics. It makes me hopeful for the future.
