Attention Bookworms! Have you heard about Buy a Friend a Book week? No? Well, here’s the deal: Debra Hamel, writer, book reviewer and blogger, started a book giveway contest at Buy A Friend A Book. BAFAB Weeks come four times a year, in the first weeks of January, April, July, and October. What’s it about? It’s about promoting books. It’s about getting people excited about reading. It’s about buying someone a book for no good reason.

And here’s where the Write From Karen readers come in. Read on …

I plan on participating in the Buy a Friend a Book (BAFAB) program every quarter. Why? Because reading is important to me and I hope important to you. Because reading opens the imagination, builds vocabulary and keeps people informed and sharp. Because reading is FUN and keeps writers like me in business. :D

The only problem is, who to give the free book to?? If it were up to me, I’d give a free book away to every single person who has visited this blog, but alas, I’m not made of money. So … my solution? Hold a contest of sorts.

Now wait, don’t grumble, this is EXTREMELY easy. Just drop me a comment on the sticky post on the home page beginning April 1st (no foolin’!) to let me know you’re “in”, and if I draw out your name on April 8th, you’ll win a free book of your choice! ($15.00 maximum). The winner will be announced on Write From Karen as well as notified via email.

*NOTE: The winner must be willing to give me a mailing address so I can mail the book to him/her (it’ll be shipped directly from Amazon.com). I’m sorry, but this is only open to U.S. addresses only.

Please feel free to steal the button above (dimensions: 130 x 167) and post it to your sidebar or blog. Copy and paste the code below:

Me: - I graduated from college in '03 with a B.S. in Technical Writing, however, my true passion lies in web design. I love to read, write, spend time with my family, surf the web, camp, exercise and live life to the fullest. This journal is about life, love and the pursuit of writing well.

Kevin - my lover, best friend, husband, and the man who spoils me rotten. We've been married for 19 years.

Dude - he's a hard-core gamer and one of the kindest, sweetest and quietest boys you'll ever meet. He's my oldest son - 16.

Jazz - he plays alto saxophone, jazz is his life and he's truly a one-of-a-kind sort of kid. He's my youngest son - 14.
